It is also possible to satisfy the thirst for adventure and try out new experiences with the right prosthesis. Leg amputees become more secure and self-confident, and gain the courage to attempt more.
On balance: the provision of the right prosthesis creates a balanced, rounded gait and cushions the impact, so that walking is easier. For example, the mobility that can be achieved with the Clever Bone System through its specific characteristics, increases the time a prosthesis can be worn by 100% on average and gives up to 130% more walking capacity each day.
With medi, you have the choice: With the Flex E height-adjustable prosthetic foot, it's even possible to wear high-heeled shoes. This photo, featuring medi model Myriam, received the obs Award in 2008 for the best PR photo in the Products category.
The medi Liner RELAX is worn directly on the residual limb in the prosthesis. It protects against environmental factors that can trigger phantom pain.
Enjoying life again: medi model Myriam in a café with friends.
A relationship of trust between the orthopaedics technician and the leg amputee provides the best possible basis for finding constructive solutions.
The medi Liner RELAX is pushed over the residual limb. It is made from silicone and Umbrellan. The latter is a knitted metallic material that has been proven to protect the sensitive nerve endings against the environmental factors that can trigger phantom pain.
Around 75 percent of all amputees suffer from phantom pain. medi RELAX Hüftex/ one-legged pantyhose with Umbrellan acts in the same way as the medi Liner RELAX (see above).
medi RELAX Night Care is a residual limb stocking for leg amputees to prevent phantom pain, and is used at those times when no prosthesis is being worn, e.g. at night.
The medi OFM2 knee joint can be adapted to any demands regarding the level of immovability and can thus "grow" with the mobility of the user.
The patented medi Clever Bone System allows the prosthesis user to walk in a joint-friendly and energy-sparing manner, since the energy applied when the prosthesis is put down is then used to move it in the direction of motion. In addition, the shock-absorbing, energy-retaining properties protect the entire joint chain.
