Putting on a stocking without the Butler
- Reach into the toe of the stocking and pull through the stocking as far as the heel.
- Hold the heel towards you. The forefoot hangs inside the rest of the stocking.
- Now slip your toes into the foot of the stocking.
- Grasp the fabric at about the middle of the forefoot at the sides.
- Now pull the stocking over your foot as far as the heel.
- Grasp the material and pull this about halfway up your lower leg.
- Carefully correct the fit if necessary.
- Slowly and carefully slide the rest of the material over the knee. Make sure that there are no wrinkles.
- Pull the stocking up to the top.
- If necessary, grasp the stocking again and fit it correctly. Make sure that the knitting marks are in the correct position.
- Check the whole stocking or pantyhose for correct fit.
- The stocking should now be giving you the best possible fit.
Ask your specialist retailer how you can most easily put on your compression stocking. Your adviser will show you and practise it with you.
Putting on a stocking with the Butler
- Place the compression stocking into the stirrup, with the toe of the stocking pointing forwards and the heel towards you. Turn down the top of the stocking so the stocking is inside out.
- Carefully slide the stocking down over the stirrup until the heel appears at the edge of the frame.
- Now slip your toes into the foot of the stocking. Support yourself while doing this by holding a fixed object (table, wall).
- Now pull the stocking, using the handgrips, up to the middle of your lower leg.
- Then tilt the Butler backwards.
