The feel-good factor plays a major part in treatment with medi.

Lipoedema is an inherited chronic disorder of the fat distribution in the thighs and lower legs and also in the hip area.

If the waist is slim and the outer thighs, hips, bottom and inside of the knee are “fat” it may well be that lipoedema is the cause. These “saddlebags” are pads of fat occurring almost exclusively in women which cannot be reduced by diet or targeted exercise. This condition is usually due to an inherited chronic disorder of fatty tissue distribution. Lipoedema often first develops in puberty or during pregnancy, with hormone changes playing a part. The legs are sensitive to pressure and tender, and bruises often develop.

Lymphoedema is a soft tissue swelling located under the skin. Lymphoedema develops when the lymphatic system can no longer carry away the lymph (= tissue fluid). The resulting retention of water and protein in the tissues causes the swelling.

Both forms of oedema can be stopped from progressing, and possibly reduced, by means of the appropriate compression therapy.
