The medi OFM2 knee joint has a clever 2-in-1 function that enables the knee to be matched to the prosthesis wearer's need for safety.
The medi OFM2 is a knee joint with a brake function, and is suitable for prosthesis wearers with low mobility but a high need for safety. The special feature of OFM2 is the 2-in-1 function: the knee joint can be "locked" with a flick of the wrist using a locking lever - i.e. locked into a "peg leg" so that flexion and extension are no longer possible. And it can be "unlocked" just as easily and used as a normal knee joint.
Ideal for prosthesis wearers who are still unsteady on their feet
Thanks to its 2-in-1 function the OFM2 is ideal for use, starting already at the rehabilitation stage. It can be said that the knee joint grows with the mobility of the user: prosthesis users who are still unsteady can first use the knee joint locked. Later, when the user has gained more confidence in walking, the joint can be released to move freely. The dual function lever on the OFM2 can be operated not only by the orthopaedic technician, but the prosthesis wearers can also operate it themselves.
Technical Information
The medi OFM2 is a mechanical knee joint that moves about a single axis (monocentric). The orthopaedic technician can set an integrated extension spring to adjust the rate of extension and flexion. A brake makes the knee joint particularly safe, even when it is in the freely swinging mode.
The orthopaedic technician decides which knee joint is suitable for which user on the basis of the doctor's prescription. The technician is the expert for the user's individual demands: he takes into consideration the amputation level and the degree of activity or need for safety, and combines this with his experience with the different knee joints.
