About 3,000 years BC, the ancient Egyptians already knew about the healing effect of compression. In the manuscripts that have survived until today, Egyptian doctors described the unusual success of the treatment, but could not explain the cause exactly. Thus, they attributed the healing action to the Gods. 

For instance, Egyptian mythology tells us that the beautiful goddess Isis applied a bandage to Osiris to heal his terrible wounds and to breathe new life into him.

This myth, which is thousands of years old, lives on today: in modern mediven compression therapy.
