Many people affected by venous diseases prefer to resort to ointments and pills. But these cannot repair distended venous walls or redundant venous valves.
Plant-based active ingredients such as horse chestnut or vine leaves support treatment, cool and care for the skin. However, once a functional disorder has been diagnosed, these preparations cannot replace the compression stocking (see Öko-Test magazine, June 2007).
The stocking material must be able to tolerate ointments. You will be on the safe side with the medi skin care range. The ingredients witch hazel (astringent), horse chestnut (tones up vessels), menthol (refreshing and cooling) and jojoba oil (soothes and regenerates the skin) complement compression therapy and care for vein-stressed skin - but they cannot replace mediven compression stockings.
