Compression therapy

It depends on the stocking

mediven forte

This medical compression stocking is often used in lipoedema.

Stage 1

In Stage 1 circular-knit compression stockings (seamless stockings) are usually used – for example, mediven forte. These should be worn at least three days a week and for sport. A body mass index of 19-25 should be maintained. Treatments in beauty salons may be beneficial, perhaps with Bodyform systems or electrolipolysis - a procedure that can draw fluid out of fat deposits. This is only helpful, however, if followed by compression.

Stage 2

In Stage 2 experts advise mechanical compression therapy from the outset (a type of lymphatic drainage using special equipment) and the wearing of flat-knit compression stockings (stockings with seams).

Stage 3

In Stage 3, as with lymphoedema patients, complex physical decongestion therapy is necessary.

Infrared treatment, which improves the microcirculation in the smallest blood vessels under the skin, can also be beneficial.
