Painful places on the stump

This is a lump-like thickening, tender to pressure, of a nerve stump in the scar region after amputation of a limb.

Neuroma emit strong pain signals even with mild stimulation. If local measures to relieve pain are inadequate, surgical correction of the stump should be considered. This condition makes it virtually impossible to mould and correctly fit a prosthesis.
